"Io dissi al cor" was composed by Benedetto Ferrari and is contained in Book I of his Musiche Varie, published in 1633.[1][2][3] The libretto is by Giambattista Marino. In a collection of Marino's works[4], The poem goes by the title "Amor secreto" ("Secret Love").
