Johann Georg Jacobi , (2 September 1740 – 4 January 1814), was a German poet and publicist and the older brother of the philosopher, lawyer, merchant and writer Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi.
Criticised for being too emotive and lacking substance, Jacobi was not very well-liked by contemporary poets. (Source: Wikipedia[1]) His works still survive and arguably, what made him less appreciated as a poet contributes to his popularity as a lyricist.
