Il faraone sommerso (Engl.: The submerged or drowned pharao) is an oratorio by Nicola Fago. The author of the libretto remains anonymous. Il faraone sommerso premiered in 1709.[1]
Synopsis
The oratorio retraces the biblical story of the escape of the Israelites from Egypt (Exodus). Moses divides the waters; as the pharao pursues the Israelites, the waves come crashing down upon them, burying the Pharao and his men on the bottom of the Red Sea.
