Festival de musique Baroque d'Ambronay
|Capacity||In 2006: 15,168 Visitors|
Since its creation in 1980 by Alain Brunet, the Festival de musique Baroque d'Ambronay is annually held in October.
It is linked to the Centre Culturel de Rencontre d'Ambronay, since its creation in 2003. One of the aims of the Festival has been to produce recordings – first, e. g., via the Auvidis label. During this period, the musician and choirmaster Jordi Savall was particularly involved.
Since 2005, the festival has produced under its own label.
The main venue used during the festival is the |Abbaye Notre-Dame d'Ambronay. Some concerts take place outside the village of Ambronay, such as at the Theatre of Bourg-en-Bresse, at the Royal Monastery of Brou also in Bourg-en-Bresse, at the Théâtre des Augustins in Montluel, at the Basilica of Saint-Martin d'Ainay in Lyon, or at the Cathedral of Saint-Jean in Belley.
