Sophie Makhno (July 2, 1935 – March 2, 2007), born Françoise Alice Georgette Lo, also known by the artist's name Françoise Marin, was a French singer-songwriter of Ukrainian origin.[1]

From 1963, she worked in collaboration with the singer Barbara for whom she became a lyricist and her secretary. It was in 1964 that she took the pseudonym of Sophie Makhno from her daughter's first name to sign her first words.[1][2]
