Silvio Stampiglia (14 March 1664 – 27 January 1725) was an Italian poet, librettist, and founder member of the Accademia dell'Arcadia under the pen name of Palemone Licurio.
Stampiglia is known to be the author of 18 dramas, most with Roman themes. One, "La caduta dei decemviri" was set to music by A. Scarlatti. He created the libretti of Serse, and Partenope that were famously set to music by Georg Friedrich Händel. Many more composers used his works, namely Giovanni Bononcini, Alessandro Scarlatti, Niccolò Jommelli Antonio Vivaldi and Leonardo Vinci, but also lesser-known composers like Johann Joseph Fux and Marc' Antonio Ziani. Stampiglia was born in Civita Lavinia, and died in Naples.
