Pietro Antonio Domenico Trapassi, better known by his pseudonym of Pietro Metastasio (Template:IPA-it; 3 January 1698 – 12 April 1782)[1] was an extremely prolific poet and librettist. His words have been set to music sometimes nearly hundred of times. Caldara, Mozart, and even Schubert composed music to Metastasio's libretti. Philippe Jaroussky recorded a variety of music based on Metastasio's libretti over the years.
