Pietro Metastasio was an extremely prolific poet and librettist. His words have been set to music sometimes nearly hundred of times. Caldara, Mozart, and even Schubert composed music to Metastasio's libretti. Philippe Jaroussky recorded a variety of music based on Metastasio's libretti over the years.
