La decollazione di San Giovanni Battista (Engl.: The decapitation of St. John the Baptist) is an oratorio by Antonio Maria Bononcini. The author of the libretto is unknown.

Synopsis

The oratorio recounts the events that lead to the decapitation of Saint John the Baptist. Famous other recounts of the biblical story include Oscar Wilde's play "Salomé" and Richard Strauss' opera by the same name that was based on it.
