Henry Purcell (September 10, 1659 – November 21, 1698) was an English Baroque composer. He is considered one of the greatest English composers of all time and frequently is being referred to as Orpheus Britannicus. Even though he incorporated French and Italian stylistic elements into his music, he is still created a unique English style of Baroque music.[1]

Today he is most famous for his Hymns, his instrumental music as well as his operas The Fairy Queen and Dido and Aeneas. his instrumental music that has been quoted and re-imagined by the composer Michael Nyman for scores for movies like "The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover".
