Farinelli (1705-1752 was a castrato singer with an exceptional international career. Up to this date, his name is synonymous with opera, art, and the Baroque era specifically, whose idealized sense of beauty culminated in the creation of the castrati.

Farinelli's name is inseparable from that of the composer Nicola Antonio Porpora who composed arias for Farinelli that catered to Farinelli's musicality and the lyrical qualities of his voice.[1]
