  • Olimpia Aldobrandini (mother)

Benedetto Pamphilj came from the noble Pamphilj family of Umbria. His father, a nephew of Pope Innocent X (Giovanni Battista Pamphilj), was the former Cardinal Camillo Francesco Maria Pamphilj, who in 1647 gave up his cardinalate for marriage to Olimpia Aldobrandini, Princess of Rossano and widow of the prematurely deceased Paolo Borghese (1622-1642), and had to leave Rome at the insistence of his mother Olimpia Maidalchini.

Benedetto Pamphilj was an important figure in the culture and arts of Rome in the 17th and 18th centuries (Palazzo Doria-Pamphilj), especially as a patron of music. He was the author of numerous oratorio libretti, sonnets and secular cantata texts. (Abbriged from Wikipedia)[1]
