Giunsero fortunatei i voti tuoi,
Se col vago candore
De' tuoi saggu pensieri
Sapesti innamorar l'aterno Amore.

Amar senza penar
non è da invitto cor
che brama il Cielo.

Saprà ben consolar
Le smanie del dolor

Annotations

"Amar senza penar" appears in the 1717 version[1] also part of the 1715 version yet has to be confirmed. In the version printed in the 1723[2], there have been considerable text changes. The introductory line of the angel seems to be missing, and the text is as follows:

Angelo
Recitativo
Ferma dall'alto soglio
Penetraron le sfere i tuoi sospiri,
Se col vago candore
De' tuoi puri pensieri
Sapesti innamorar l'istesso Amore.

Aria
Amar senza penar
Non è da invitto cor,
Che brama il Cielo.

Saprà ben consolar
L'aspetto del dolor
Ogni tuo zelo.
