(This page is also transcluded into Help:Templates for song info)
We use categories to systemize albums, but mostly songs and arias. To keep confusion to a minimum, there are pre-made templates for different epochs, like the 18th century, the 19th century, etc. This is paired with a colour code #colourcode (yet to be determined) to fit the boxes. (There might be a distinction between sacred and secular, but also between epochs to make the user experience more intuitive, and it's only on a subliminal level.)

Colour codes
This is not a consolidated suggestion at all! We need to decide on a "corporate" colour scheme yet for the page as well.
